Safe Landings in Florida

Ben says goodbye at the Dayton Airport
Riley welcomes Grandma Rudi at the Melbourne FL Airport

Today is day 2 of my most excellent vacation at Patrick Air Force Base located near beautiful Cocoa Beach, Florida. It's hurricane season. The weather is humid, windy, rainy and very hot. I didn't come down here for the weather so it's all wonderful to me. My flight down was very smooth with no problems. Sarah and Riley greeted me at Melbourne Airport with flowers and a sign decorated by the baby genius, Riley. We traveled the twenty minutes back to Patrick AFB but Riley who is teething was very unhappy so a side trip to McDonalds was in order for a M&M Mcflurry (4 bites) and then safe at home. Benjamin arrived home from Cape Canaveral and looked very handsome in his uniform. After a big hug, we ate Sarah's delicious pasta casserole and just enjoyed being together. My only regret is that Grandpa Ben could not come with me on this most excellent adventure. He recently had shoulder surgery and must stay at home for follow up physical therapy. Today has been a much needed lazy day. There has been at least three huge thunderstorms, after one big down pour Riley and I went out to play in the water puddles left behind. Splash! Spash! Splash! Here is the most exciting news of all!!! Riley will be having a little brother or sister sometime in February. Sarah is suffering from morning sickness so I am really happy to be here to help out.

  1. Yea Rudi! A new blog! That is exciting stuff. The pictures of Riley are adorable. You look great too! Too bad Big Ben couldn't come along. I love your writing - very detailed, but brief. Can't wait to follow along with all of your adventures. Give Sarah, Riley, and Ben a hug for me. Love you!
